Trout
fishing – on your own or guided by foot, boat or helicopter
The Nelson region boasts the “most consistent” fly fishing
in the country. The area offers an excellent variety of clear streams
and rivers, magnificent lowland and back country settings in pristine
and relatively untouched environments. Triple Tui self contained accommodation
is accessible to the best fly fishing rivers in the region and Steve is
available to take you on day excursions or longer if required. We have
a boat (for guided trips only) which enables access to the more remote
spots, plus we can organise a helicopter pick up from Triple Tui right
beside your cabin.
Contact Triple Tui self contained accommodation
for guided fishing trips. (Fishing licence is required)

Hunting – guided day trips, local multi day hunts, north
island trips
Steve is an ex deer culler and has many years experience hunting Sika
deer in the North Island – Kaimanawa, Kaweka, Tararua and Ruahine
Ranges plus Red deer and Chamois in the South Island. He is available
to take you hunting for day trips or longer, in and out of the roar. Triple
Tui has a boat (for guided trips only) which gives access to the more
remote areas plus helicopter pick ups can be arranged from the property.

local and North Island guided hunting trips.

Tramping
/ walking
Triple Tui Bed and breakfast accommodation is situated on the border of
the Kahurangi National
Park. Created in 1996, Kahurangi – meaning treasured possession
– is one of New Zealand’s newest and the 2nd largest National
Park at 452,000 hectares.
There are more than 570 km’s of walking and tramping tracks in the
park. The more popular, longer walks include the Heaphy track and the
Wangapeka
track, but there are short walks available at most road ends. Entry
to the park can be gained from Triple Tui’s Riverstone cabin and
just a 10 minute drive gives you access to tracks up to the Lookout Range,
from there you can view Mt Owen and get magnificent views over the valley.
There are also come lovely short bush walks on the property.
River
walks / swimming holes
The Hope River is a gentle flowing, tea coloured river which runs through
Triple Tui, right by the Riverstone cabin. There are many access points
where you can wander at your leisure up-river and view old railway bridges,
have a picnic, view stunning waterfalls or swim in the clear, cool pools.
Nelson
Lakes National Park
Nelson
Lakes National Park protects 102,000 hectares of the northernmost
Southern Alps. The park offers a quiet experience of tranquil beech forests,
craggy mountains, clear streams, fields of tussock and lakes both big
and small. A network of short walks explores the glacial features and
forests. Longer tracks climb up through beech forest to viewpoints high
above Lake Rotoiti. Talk to Steve about some of the amazing places he
has walked to in the Park and which walks will best suit your fitness
level.
Abel
Tasman National Park
Whether you're looking for an active day of tramping and kayaking, or
a lazy day at the beach, Abel
Tasman National Park is perfect. It is New Zealand's smallest national
park, protecting 23,000 hectares of the most natural stretch of easily
accessible coastline in New Zealand. Activities range from 3 hours to
8 hours in duration and this can be arranged from Triple Tui if you wish.
